VIVEKANANDA THE MILITANT MYSTIC

VIVEKANANDA THE MILITANT MYSTIC AND THE CYCLONIC HINDU

Vivekananda is known to entire nation not his mission

The whole of India knows who Mahathma Gandhi was and what exactly his mission was. The nation also could effortlessly relate Amitha Bachan or Sachin Tendulkar to their respective fields of work.
Similarly Swami Vivekananda is also familiar to the entire nation, but very few of us are aware about the real nature of his great mission that he had under taken passionately and accomplished in a shorter period. Even the educated Indians are at a trouble to pinpoint Swamiji’s field of service and his contribution to this nation and its heritage.
As a result Swami Vivekananda’s mission is still vague to the Indian mass inspite of his acclaimed popularity. The common man has his own version: many take Swamiji for a fine wandering monk who did all his wanderings in America and Europe besides India, some doubt him as a mere learned or academic Philosopher, for a good number of souls he is a strict moralist who had preached the dos and don’ts to the nations restlessly like a school teacher, some regard him an humanitarian worker, others consider him a great orator or patriot.
However, most of us agree on one point- Swamiji spoke something great and serious to the enlightened American public. But again we are not sure what this nomadic Sanyasi tried to convince the technologically most advanced creatures on the earth?
Why did these intellectual giants describe him as ‘Cyclonic Hindu’, ‘Prophet Warrior’ or ‘Militant Mystic’?
Vedic vision -Swami Vivekananda’s mission
In fact Swamiji did not teach the then superhuman race any specific branch of science or technological applications but taught them to look beyond the Newtonic science and technology based on it. He introduced them the Vedhas and Upanishads of the Hindus coupled with science and compelled them to go even ahead of the subatomic wisdom.
When he said one has to go even beyond the realm of Vedhas and Upanishads in search of truth, and declared ‘Nethi, Nethi’ (truth is not this not that) as the tradition of the Hindus, the Americans realized who the Hindus are and what their scriptures meant to them.
In fact Swami Vivekananda is synonymous with Vedha. He discussed, described, viewed and approached everything under the sun in terms of Vedic standpoint.
When Swamiji reminded the west that the Hindu scriptures ,the Vedhas are not written by any divine agencies or not even by God Himself,’ the ‘People of The Books’(Quran calls the Jews and Christians so) were stunned. He explained them how the Vedha is not a written format, but an imprinted knowledge (of truth) that already exists in all the birth less and deathless infinite creatures.

For a long time the Americans held that the Hindus were an unintelligent heathen race engrossed in utter superstition and are needing some basics of civilization. But after hearing Swamiji’s discourses on Hinduism and Hindu culture they realized that the Hindus were far ahead of any human civilization, several thousands of years before the birth of Christ and Mohammed. For the Hindus Chemistry, Quantum Physics, Mathematics and each and every branch of science and arts were the inevitable part of their spiritual package.
During his long tours in America and Europe, the excellent teacher in him, unveiled the most complicated Vedic theme of 'Aham Brahmasmi','Maya Vadh 'and the 'Advaitha theory’ which is based on 'Time- space-cause’ effect.
It was America which was going through its phase of renaissance that recognized Swami Vivekananda’s Vedic wisdom first. However, the Indian public are rather forced to accept his plain popularity minus his vedic vision .The trend continues even today;Vivekananda is popular all over but not his vedic mission.
