SUDHAMA AND LORD KRISHNA

Sudhama the poor boy and Krishna were close friends during their stay at saint Sandipani’s Gurukula (hermitage).
After the completion of their studies at the hermitage they went back to their native places.

Krishna became the King of Dwaraka. Sudhama married a woman named Susheela. He and his large family were always in the hard grip of poverty.
At last,Susheela sought out a way: Sudhama meet his old childhood friend Krishna so that they might escape the predicament. The very prospect of meeting Krishna, his boyhood friend thrilled Sudhama.
He set out to Dwaraka delightfully with a meager gift of some beaten rice.

When Krishna knew about his old friend’s arrival, he ran to receive him at the entrance. Krishna took him inside the palace and washed his feet with his own hands.Sudhama was to hand out the gift to Krishna.but felt reluctant seeing the kingly atmosphere in the palace. Krishna sensed the plight of his friend and grabbed the beaten rice from him and ate it to his content.
The friends spent long time chatting about their days at Gurukula.

The time came to depart.Sudhama who was in a state of ecstasy forgot to talk about his poverty to Krishna, but Bagavan knew everything.
When he reached home he was surprised to see a mansion in the place of his old hut. His wife and children who were decked with jewels and rich garments amazed him.
